Hand engraving is a process by which a highly skilled artisan makes decorative cuts into metal. The tools used for this are like tiny chisels and must be kept very sharp and at precise angles to product the shiny cuts. 

Damascus steel is created by folding layers of steel with varying levels of carbon and manipulating them to create many different beautiful patterns.
