A Short Drive from North Raleigh
If you're in North Raleigh, you're only 32 minutes from our Durham studio outside of rush hour, often a shorter drive than crosstown Raleigh traffic at peak times.
We are conveniently located near several major highways including I85, I40 and Hwy147 (Durham Freeway). We are on the west end of Main St, on the other side of Duke campus from downtown Durham. Our building, Erwin Square has its own free parking right in front of our shop. We're in the same building as Parizade restaurant.
We regularly work with North Raleigh clients on custom engagement rings, estate jewelry redesigns, and appraisals for insurance and estate purposes.

Have your jewelry appraised by CGA, GG credentialed gemologists. Comprehensive jewelry appraisals are conducted in our AGS accredited gem lab.

Credentials & Experience
Our design and sales team hold the AGS Certified Sales Associate credential which must be renewed each year.
Our gemologists hold the highest level of certification, Certified Gemologist Appraiser (CGA from AGS) in addition to Graduate Gemologist (GG from GIA).
Our goldsmiths hold a range of credentials; many have earned advanced degrees such as BFA and MFA as well as certificates from New Approach School for Jewelers and GRS Training Center. Our goldsmiths have won many design awards such as AGTA Spectrum Awards, Platinum Guild International, MJSA Vision Award, International Pearl Competition and many more.
Jewelsmith has been in business since 1976 and many of our staff members have been with the company for more than 10 years, some with more than 20 years.

We offer a relaxed, fun, inclusive atmosphere for no pressure browsing and free consultations. Have a complimentary beverage while you tour our goldsmith shop and meet the artists that will create your jewelry. If you love dogs, be sure to ask to meet our friendly shop dog, Ace.
Scheduling appointments allows us to give each client individual attention without waiting. We accept walk-ins whenever we can, but we encourage making appointments so we can devote the time to you.

I'm so glad I came here. I had a pair of Tanzanite loose stones from my trip to Tanzania that I wanted turned into earrings. Tracy Hayes, the designer, was a joy to work with. She spent a lot of time with me discussing what I wanted, showing me examples from the showroom and sketching out some alternatives. She is also very personable, easy to talk to and...fun! Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduling a consultation ahead of time is recommended for custom design work so a designer can be ready for you.
Can I start the process without visiting in person?
Yes.
Initial custom design consultations can be done virtually. Many Raleigh clients start with a virtual conversation and visit in person later in the process, for fittings, approvals, or pickup.
You can also shop or have a custom jewelry project completed entirely virtually, from remote consultations to wax models and final products that can be shipped to your door.
