Phillip Dismuke believes in the power of bringing a little joy to people's lives. He entered the jewelry industry in 1982 and earned his BFA from East Carolina University in 1985. He started working at Jewelsmith in 1991 and became an employee-owner in 2022, when the studio transitioned to employee ownership. He loves the relaxed atmosphere and that Jewelsmith provides a free lunch on Saturdays.
He considers his biggest accomplishment as a designer and goldsmith to be placing fifth in the world in the Japanese Pearl Competition in 1995. His work has also earned recognition in the Japanese Pearl Competition (1997, 2010), the International Pearl Competition (2010, 2015), the AGTA Spectrum Awards, the MJSA Vision Award, the JCK International Design Competition, and the Platinum Guild International competition. He is always trying to improve and to build on previous work.
In his personal time, he enjoys spending time with his daughter and enjoying the simple things in life.
He loves designing with pearls and his favorite gemstone is tourmaline. He loves that pearls are easy to work with and that tourmaline is both durable and comes in so many different colors.
