Jewelry Care

Pearl Care

Wear your pearls! Regular care will greatly extend the life of your pearls and give you the peace of mind to keep wearing and loving them.

Wipe your pearls regularly with a soft cloth to remove oils etc. But stay away from chemical or abrasive cleaners.

Protect your pearls from chemicals such as perfume, hair spray, vinegar, alcohol, ammonia, bleach, pools and hot tubs. Why? Pearls are super sensitive to chemicals and easily damaged. Even the chlorinated water in the shower can damage them!

Pearls should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. Please, do not sleep in your pearls. Pearls are usually strung on silk cord which is relatively tough for its size, but can wear out and break pretty quickly.

Store your pearls in a soft velvet or satin bag or pouch so they won't get scratched by other items.

Have your pearls checked and restrung every year or two. Over time the silk can weaken which gives the pearls more room to shift around and slice away at the thread.
